The .500 Special was introduced in 2004 by Cor-bon for use with reduced loads in the .500 S&W Magnum revolvers. With a case length equal to a 44 Magnum (.350 shorter than standard .500 S&W Mag) it allows users to shoot with dramatically less recoil while still retaining performance greater than the 44 Magnum.
